Crown the Sound is a high-energy music competition showcasing new and exciting emerging musicians from Capilano University and the surrounding community.

What is Crown the Sound?

Crown the Sound is a celebration of the next generation of emerging artists. The event will bring together students and local musicians in a friendly music competition with a live showcase. Live in-person voting and exciting performances will determine who is the winner of Crown the Sound.

The Stages

Here's how the competition works

Submit a Video Audition

November 13, 2025 - February 23, 2026

Record and submit a video audition of you and/or your band playing for the chance to perform at our live event!

 

After the submission period closes, the Crown the Sound team and additional judges will contact selected musicians.

Perform Live on Stage

April 2, 2026 @ 6:30pm

BlueShore Financial Centre for the Performing Arts

This is the big finale! The selected musicians will be performing live to win over the hearts (and the votes) of audience members. Public voting will be open during the event for the audience to vote on their favourite performances.

At the end of the night, the artist(s) with the most votes will win the Crown and walk away with some amazing prizes (up to $400 CAD value).
